Beautiful Happy Valley is located at the base of the mountains between Lenoir and Blowing Rock. Featuring the gorgeous Yadkin River and following rural Highway 268, Happy Valley has a special place in the hearts of many! You’ll find old barns, historic old homes, and acres upon acres of farmland during your ride down the rural way. Look out for cyclists and the occasional crossing wildlife, as you’ll likely find them sharing the road. Other pit spots along the way include: The Chapel of Rest-a final resting spot for soldiers from the Civil War, Fort Defiance- the personal home of a hero from the American Revolution and the city of Lenoir’s, namesake, General William Lenoir, The Patterson School-an educational retreat, and Laura Foster’s Grave- known from the song, Tom Dooley, a traditional folk song based on Foster’s murder in 1866.
